Crown Law is one of Queensland’s largest law firms and is continually growing. Lawyers in Crown Law work with clients across Queensland Government on the most significant and complex legal issues facing the State.

We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic and proactive legal professional to work in our Government Insurance and Risk Team as a Senior Lawyer.
 
As a Senior Lawyer you will be responsible for:
  • conducting a professional legal practice as a specialist practitioner
  • providing legal training to officers of client departments and Crown Law officers
  • promoting Crown Law services to client departments.
  • providing specialist advice and guidance on questions of law and practice to other officers within the legal practice group.
  • liaising with officers of government departments, corporations and instrumentalities.
  • negotiating skilfully in tough situations, winning concessions without damaging relationships.
  • writing and communicating clearly, succinctly in a variety of settings to convey messages that will achieve a desired effect.
 
This role requires you to:
  • handle complex civil proceedings on behalf of the Crown, Crown Corporations and Instrumentalities, including:
-    matters before all State and Federal Courts and Tribunals
-    providing representation at and advice on dispute resolution procedures
-    drafting pleadings, affidavits and other court documents
-    appearing as Counsel on interlocutory.
 
  • Undertake litigation work in relation to the following areas of law:
-    personal injuries claims
-    public liability
-    transport infrastructure litigation.
 
You will also be required to provide high quality advice, submissions and correspondence in complex and sensitive matters for consideration at Ministerial, Cabinet or inter-governmental levels.
 
Admission as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland is required.
 
Salary range per annum $96741 - $103733 (including superannuation).
